At Togatus, we’re committed to paying our contributors for the work they do. As such, in 2022 we’ve put aside $1500 of our operations budget to go towards an honoraria payment system. This means that accepted submissions which are featured on Tog’s website or in print will earn our contributors a $50 payment. This averages to ten paid submissions for each of Togatus’ three print editions in 2022.
You are still strongly encouraged to send in submissions of all kinds that do not meet the following guidelines, but whether these submissions will qualify for an honoraria will be up to the discretion of the editorial team as our budget is limited.

Non-Fiction Writing –
Non-fiction articles featuring original photos or interviews must be at least 600 words in length to be eligible for an honoraria payment.
Non-fiction articles not featuring original photos or interviews must be at least 750 words in length to be eligible for an honoraria payment.
Creative Writing –
Pieces of creative writing including short stories and other works must be at least 750 words to be eligible for an honoraria payment. Shorter pieces of fiction and poetry may still be considered for an honoraria but are subject to discretion.
Artworks (digital paintings, sketches, comic strips) –
Whether artistic works will qualify for an honoraria is subject to the discretion of the Togatus Creative Director. Collections are preferred as well as an accompanying artist’s statement.
