THE MAXI

The maxi… every girl needs one

Most shapes suit the maxi. The style not only provides a length which forgives any undesirable leg issues, but it also flatters the shapely. Jil Sander embraced this fashion by sending out her models in her Spring Summer 2011 show wearing simple white tees with fluoro maxis.

Thing to watch out for? A maxi that is too long! Nothing looks worst than a hem line that has obviously been pulled along the ground! Untidy and obviously not tailored for you is not a desired look.

The best part of the maxi is that it can be tailored to most looks. If it’s boho you’re going for, go for a Mary-Kate inspired long and layered maxi, with long cardigans, vests and scarves. However if you are looking to dress it up and wear it out, put some heels on, a fitted tank and sexy is only a step away. The best thing about this trend is it’s almost impossible to look bad (as long as you get the right size, be sure not to downsize – nothing is worse!) and can be worn urban cool or slick sexy and sophisticated.

Whats my tip… if you only have room for one, go for black with a soft band then you can wear it either high or low on the hip. Room in the funds for two, go with the black and then go bright (Jil Sander inspired!) and team it with the basic white tee!

The next thing to try – the sheer maxi with a blazer. Definitely one of the next big things…

I love the oversized shirt with this maxi! It adds a different texture and shape to the outfit. The length of this skirt works for her as it’s still brand new and cant be seen to be shabby and obviously dragged…

This maxi portrays exactly why a maxi can be worn both with flats or dressed up with heels! Both of these skirts would look fantastic either way. Take note of the belt detail – it clinches the skirt in at the waist making it more flattering.
